Position Summary:
The Payroll/HRIS Manager is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for the management and continuous improvement of Kodiak’s payroll and human resources information systems (HRIS) across more than 40 subsidiary companies. This role leads the payroll function, oversees HR technology (including ADP Workforce Now and iCIMS), and ensures the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of payroll processing and HR data management. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a collaborative mindset to support a diverse workforce—including plant, warehouse, and field personnel within our Operating Companies in a rapidly evolving organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Oversight
- Lead and manage multi-state, multi-entity payroll processing through ADP Workforce Now
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and reporting requirements
- Establish, document, and continuously improve payroll processes, controls, and reporting
- Partner with Finance to ensure accurate payroll accounting, GL mapping, and reconciliations
- Provide guidance and training to entity-level payroll contacts and administrators
- Respond to payroll-related audits, inquiries, and escalations with urgency and accuracy
HRIS Management
- Oversee configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of HRIS platforms (ADP Workforce Now and iCIMS)
- Manage data integrity, security, and access control across all HR systems
- Develop and deliver advanced reporting and dashboards to HR, Finance, and executive leadership
- Lead system integration projects, including onboarding new entities post-acquisition
- Ensure system workflows and automation support operational efficiency and compliance
- Partner with IT, vendors, and internal stakeholders to address issues, updates, automation, and customizations
Leadership & Strategy
- Supervise and develop HRIS Analyst(s) and payroll support staff
- Serve as a strategic advisor to HR leadership on payroll and HRIS matters
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure payroll and HR data support key business initiatives
- Lead internal audits of payroll and system access controls in partnership with Internal Audit
- Maintain vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements for HRIS and payroll systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field required; Master’s degree or certifications (CPP, SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in payroll and HRIS, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity
- Deep expertise in ADP Workforce Now is required; iCIMS experience strongly preferred
- Experience managing multi-entity, multi-state payrolls, including acquisitions and system integrations
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with advanced Excel proficiency
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and improve systems and processes
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Location: This position is primarily on-site at our headquarters located at: 9780 Pyramid Court, Englewood, CO 80112
- Regular in-person attendance is required Monday through Thursday
- Friday is an optional remote workday
