Position Summary:
The Total Rewards Manager is a strategic partner responsible for the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. This role ensures our offerings remain competitive, cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with our mission to attract and retain top talent while supporting Kodiak’s long-term business objectives. This role will be responsible for developing and managing compensation and benefits budgets. Will oversee compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. And finally, this role will be responsible for the selection and manage ment of outsourced providers.

 

The Total Rewards Manager plays a critical role in shaping our total rewards philosophy and strategy, evaluating existing programs, and driving innovation in employee offerings to improve engagement and organizational performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Total Rewards Strategy & Program Leadership

  • Develop and maintain a competitive Total Rewards strategy, aligned with organizational goals and employee needs.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance compensation, benefits, and wellness programs to support talent acquisition, retention, and employee well-being.
  • Monitor external trends and internal metrics to adjust programs for effectiveness, compliance, and innovation.
  • Partner with leadership and key stakeholders to ensure rewards programs align with business priorities and financial goals.

Benefits Program Management

  • Lead the design, evaluation, selection, and administration of group benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and fringe benefits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits vendors and brokers and carriers.
  • Oversee compliance with federal and state benefits regulations (e.g., ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA), partnering with legal and external consultants as necessary.
  • Guide and support benefits specialists on operational tasks such as benefits setup in HRIS, onboarding, claims assistance, open enrollment, ACA administration, and employee inquiries.

Compensation Oversight

  • Assess and enhance compensation structures and pay practices to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to support budgeting, salary planning, and market benchmarking.

Employee Wellness Leadership

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate wellness campaigns and activities to improve employee engagement and reduce health-related costs.
  • Monitor and report on wellness program impact and ROI, ensuring proper use of allocated budgets and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with marketing and external vendors to create compelling wellness communications and campaigns.
  • Stay current on national wellness trends and bring forward innovative ideas to enhance employee participation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • HR certification a plus: SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in total rewards, including benefits and compensation program management.
  • Experience in a multi-divisional organization is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of benefits regulations (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA).
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategic wellness or engagement programs.
  • Exceptional vendor management, project management, and communication skills.
  • High proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration systems and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates a high-level of professionalism, discretion, and customer focus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • A hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for people and culture.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
